We develop advanced technologies and concepts that enable commanders to maintain situational awareness and achieve decisive effects in contested environments, across multiple domains.
Since the end of the Cold War, a range of new threats to global security has emerged, presenting military decision-makers with ever-increasing complexity and challenges. New technologies for Battle Management, Command, & Control (BMC2) are critical to enable commanders to maintain situational awareness and achieve decisive effects across multiple domains. STR is at the forefront of BMC2 innovation, including new capabilities for distributed air operations planning, cooperative control of autonomous and manned systems, C2 system-of-systems composition, sensor resource management, and tracking and data fusion.
Examples include:
Distributed Air Operations STR is developing a next generation tool suite and algorithms for rapid generation of air tasking orders among distributed air planning cells. This suite provides for resilience against severely disrupted C2 environments.
Expeditionary Urban Operations: STR is building intelligent tools for the United State Marine Corps to rapidly develop and experiment with new organizations and tactics for small, networked, highly roboticized combined arms units.
Tracking and Fusion STR has developed multi-target tracking software that can fuse uncertain information from disparate sensors to provide an accurate operating picture under complex operating conditions.
These and other advances in BMC2 technology by STR will help the 21st century commander maintain a strategic advantage over asymmetric threats as well as near-peer adversaries.
